After 25 or so happy years with your small backpack CP-8666 in black & tan trim plus matching wallet, it was time to say goodbye but I’m keeping the mint-condition wallet. Your medium backpack CP-8837 in black w. red trim just came in from hbc.com. Wow. The style is drop-dead gorgeous, the leather is oh sooo soft and flexible, and the many compartments are just perfect. I never switch handbags, and this one will be with me every day, all year long. I received my bag today from HBC but it is not as pictured. The red stripe down the front is black, so no contrast, but the flap is lined in red. The carry handle is also black rather than red. It is the same style but not the same colours as pictured here or, for that matter, on the Bay page. I like the style and will keep it, but I was disappointed in the change of colour. I also find the top opening a bit tight – access might be made easier by a gusset or flap of sorts.

Yes, you are right. The Bay (at the time) had mixed stock, some with the red contrast on the front, some without. Glad you kept the bag, but am sorry to hear you did not get the color combo that was shown on their wedsite.

I drove one hour to the nearest Bay store to pick up this bag and I was totally disappointed when I saw it. It’s so nice and soft. It has tons of organization it’s perfect size to take to work when you are all dressed up or on holidays when you carry other items around but it does not have a zipper to keep everything safe. I was so disappointed. Unfortunately I did not buy it. If you don’t mind not being able to securely close your bag then this bag is 5 star.
